- ½ cup granulated sugar

- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg

- 1 cup chopped cherries (fresh or frozen)
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease it.
- Whisk together 1 ½ cups flour, ½ cup sugar, 2 teaspoons baking powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda, and ¼ teaspoon salt in a large mixing bowl until combined.
- Mix together ½ cup melted butter, ¾ cup buttermilk, 1 egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract in a separate bowl until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
- Fold in 1 cup chopped cherries with a gentle touch.
- Fill each muffin cup about ¾ full with batter.
- Mix ¼ cup flour and ¼ cup brown sugar in a small bowl for the topping, then add 2 tablespoons cold, cubed butter and mix until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping generously over each muffin.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the muffins in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Notes
These muffins are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
